Neigh-bor-ing

/ˈneɪbərɪŋ/

  1. Located in a sign adjacent to another sign; a planet or point that occupies the sign immediately before or after a given sign.
  2. Located in a house adjacent to another house; a planet or point placed in a house next to a referenced house or planet.

In Hellenistic astrology, neighboring relationships denote simple spatial adjacency on the zodiac or chart and are used to describe proximity without implying technical aspect. A planet in a neighboring sign or house may influence or modify the affairs of the adjacent area by closeness of placement, shared rulerships, or through techniques that treat contiguity as meaningful (for example, considerations of sect, facets of domicile exchanges, or interpretive emphasis on nearby chart sectors). Interpreters use neighboring to qualify interactions that are weaker than aspectual connections but still relevant to how planetary themes spill into adjoining domains.
