Hellenistic Natal Astrology

This certificate series provides a comprehensive foundation in Hellenistic natal astrology, equipping students with a substantive understanding of Hellenistic astrological principles, techniques, and theoretical frameworks through direct engagement with primary texts, live instruction, and participation in an active online learning community.

Students will develop proficiency in applying Hellenistic astrological methods in contemporary practice, learning to delineate natal charts by integrating a wide range of traditional techniques. Emphasis is placed on both technical competence and interpretive synthesis, enabling students to translate historical astrological concepts into meaningful and contextually relevant chart analysis.

Through the close reading and critical examination of ancient source texts, students will cultivate an appreciation for the intellectual and philosophical foundations of Hellenistic astrology. The program encourages analytical reflection on historical materials while fostering the ability to synthesize traditional knowledge into coherent and insightful natal chart delineations applicable to both personal exploration and professional astrological practice.

Why Study Hellenistic Natal Astrology

In the 1990s, a dedicated group of astrologers and translators revived interest in Hellenistic astrology through the pioneering translation work of Project Hindsight. Their efforts renewed the study of Western horoscopic astrology by reconnecting it with its ancient foundations, which stretch back more than 2,000 years. Emerging from the cultural intersections of ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Greece, the origins of Hellenistic astrology remain partly enigmatic. Legendary figures such as Hermes Trismegistus, Asclepius, Nechepso, and Petosiris are traditionally regarded as key contributors to the development and transmission of this astrological tradition into the modern age.

In recent decades, the recovery and reconstruction of Hellenistic astrology have restored many previously lost techniques and theoretical frameworks to contemporary astrological practice. This revival has deepened astrological knowledge and enhanced practitioners’ ability to provide meaningful insight and guidance to their clients. Although significant progress has been made in integrating ancient methods into modern practice, much remains to be explored. The Hellenistic Natal Astrology Certificate is designed to help students develop greater precision, confidence, and skill in their astrological work while also encouraging active participation in the continuing reconstruction and preservation of the Hellenistic astrological tradition.
