As-pect
/ˈæspɛkt/
The angular relationship between celestial bodies and or points in the horoscope, measured by the arc of separation between them in the zodiac.
In astrology, an Aspect describes how two planets or other points in a natal chart or transit interact based on their angular distance from one another. Traditionally, astrologers focused on the five major aspects Conjunction 0°, Sextile 60°, Square 90°, Trine 120°, and Opposition 180° because these arcs correspond to the regular geometric shapes—the hexagon, square, and triangle—formed by dividing the 360° zodiac circle. This geometric relationship was believed to denote a configuration of mutual influence. Modern astrology expands this by including many minor aspects. Regardless of the approach, the influence between the planets is considered more potent the closer the angular separation is to the exact degree of the aspect; this closeness is called the orb of influence.
