Bi-cor-po-re-al
/ˌbaɪ.kɔːrˈpɔː.ri.əl/
A traditional term for the four zodiac signs that are symbolically represented by a dual or "double-bodied" figure. These signs are Gemini (The Twins), Virgo (The Maiden carrying two objects), Sagittarius (The Centaur, half-man/half-beast), and Pisces (The Two Fishes). These are also known as the Mutable signs.
The concept of a Bi-corporeal sign (Greek: dísōma, "two-bodied") is foundational to understanding the quality, or Quadruplicity, of these signs. Because they contain two forms within a single sign, they are often associated with themes of duality, blending, changeability, and transitional states. In practical chart interpretation, planets placed in bi-corporeal signs tend to manifest their energy in dual or shifting ways, often presenting options, changes of mind, or two distinct outcomes in matters related to that planet and house. For example, a major life event indicated by a planet in a bi-corporeal sign may happen twice or have two major components.
